Youth Outreach and Internships

Internships

Rough Magic offers unpaid 3-month and 6-month internships to college students and/or aspiring engineers who want to gain first hand knowledge of working in a rehearsal and recording studio.  Our interns get the opportunity to work with our talented clients and they will learn all aspects of our business including tracking, mixing, mastering, rehearsal, advertising, database management and client relations.   Call or email to learn more about these exciting opportunities.

School and Community Center Activities and Partnerships

Rough Magic periodically holds “Battle of the Bands” contests in at local schools and community centers in Brooklyn and the greater-NYC area.   In 2006-7, the studio hosted and judged the Manhattan JCC’s “Battle of the Bands” contest and gives away free studio time to finalists.   The studio recently donated a free recording day to the “Laguardia Arts auction” celebrating the 25th anniversary of the The Laguardia High School of Music and Art and Performing Arts.   Winning bands of students get to work with an engineer and we put a special emphasis and focus on education on studio etiquette, recording, songwriting and production.  Rough Magic is actively seeking partnerships with the music departments of local schools and community centers to run training and educational seminars in the studio.
